Two years ago, on a First Friday, a small boutique called Tony opened its doors. A year later, it won the City Paper Reader's Choice Award for "Best Accessory Store."
In conjunction with its second anniversary, the store will open its new upstairs lingerie section on Friday. The festivities begin at 6 p.m., and include snacks and champagne.
The small space at the top of the spiral staircase that once housed secondhand clothes has been transformed into a boudoir of sorts, where customers can find lingerie ranging from spunky to chic. Owner Pamela Dollak says the selection will be affordable and will include brand names like Mary Green and Montelle.
"It'll be girly, flirty stuff," says Dollak, her hair speckled with the same pink paint she recently started rolling onto the upstairs walls. Along with the new coat, Philadelphia University student Sydney Harreys created a mural of iconic ingenue Lucy Doraine (pictured) to add to the French bedroom feel of the space.
It's safe to that say that when it comes to lingerie, Tony's got you covered. Well, you know what we mean.
