Twelve Angry Men

theater

John Boy (The Waltons' Richard Thomas) and Norm (Cheers' George Wendt) are steamed about something, and the former TV stars are roaming the country arguing about it. Twelve Angry Men, Reginald Rose's enduring drama about a hung jury deciding a young man's fate — 1954 television movie, 1957 film, 1964 stage play, Showtime special in 1997, plus countless school, community and professional productions — received its first Broadway run (32 weeks!) at the Roundabout last season, with acclaimed director Scott Ellis erasing any reasonable doubt about the play by breathing new life into the stalemated deliberations and earning one of the show's three Tony nominations. Broadway Across America starts a busy season at the Merriam Theater with a drama that's always relevant.

Runs Sept. 26-Oct. 1, $25-$64.50, Merriam Theater, 250 S. Broad St., 215-336-1234, www.broadwayacrossamerica.com/philadelphia.
