Watering HoleIt's Where We Drink
Every Saturday night, patrons at Manayunk's Castle Roxx can rent a gas can ($10) and pint glass ($2) for unlimited imbibing during the bar's 8-10 p.m. happy hour. After start-up costs, you're allowed to refuel as many times as you likeat $2.89 per gallon of Miller Lite.
"A lot of people in Manayunk go down the shore for the weekend, but we've maintained a steady crowd throughout summer because of this special," says Castle Roxx manager Rich Werntz, whose partner Frank Sautner thought up the gas/beer connection.
If you're concerned about shortages due to America's heavy dependence on beer, fear notthe bar keeps 16 cans and two kegs behind the counter. The price of beer is not subject to change, and the special runs through December. There's even a Roxx rickshaw to hoof home the night's drunken gas guzzlers.
