Lit for Liberals
Liberals are often accused of being intellectual elitists or starry-eyed dreamers. Only the party that gave us Karl Rove could make being educated and artistic look like a bad thing. Members of LitPAC, a group dedicated to getting authors more involved in politics, are embracing their lefty beliefs and they're doing it through the power of poetic verse. The nationwide political action committee makes its first visit to Philly not with the sound of a flip-flop, but with the impassioned roar of: "Give us back our country." The Khyber event features an all-star cast of local writers including Jennifer Weiner (author of Good in Bed), Buzz Bissinger (A Prayer for the City) and blogger Duncan "Atrios" Black. This is your chance to consort with the city's most intelligent writers, thinkers and activists. All proceeds go to the campaign of Pennsylvania 6th District Democratic candidate Lois Murphy.
