Street Fashion

Vintage couture dresses, $450-$800, Sara's Stoop Sale, Ninth and South sts., open Saturdays and Sundays, noon-dusk, or by appointment at saraponsoll@hotmail.com

Who needs Walnut Street retail when you can have a personal rack raider? Self-proclaimed shopaholic Sara Ponsoll combs thrift stores, consignment shops and flea markets from Philly to Pittsburgh in search of one-of-a-kind vintage finds for her weekend stoop sales.

Ponsoll specializes in 1930s-'70s jewelry and couture dresses from the likes of Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Jean Patou and Gucci. Beyond that, she can tell you the story (release date, trends of the season, etc.) behind that taffeta prom dress or peasant-cut boho top.

"Every time I'm out, I always find something beautiful," says Ponsoll. "Even if I can't wear it … I know someone will appreciate it."
