Top 5 Philly Food Blogs

VIRTUAL CRITICS

1 Foobooz

Foobooz (food plus booze—get it?) is only four months old, but it's already making headway as one of Philadelphia's most notable food sites. The one-man show is run by Arthur Etchells, who caught the blog bug while compiling lists of good drink specials for his hockey buddies. Now it's an invaluable resource for budget barhounds and event-seeking foodies alike. Favorite Eats: Amada, Royal Tavern.

2 Holly Eats

Hollister "Holly" Moore, City Paper's very first food columnist, made his name sampling the salt-of-the-earth grub y'all know and love. (Check out his grease-stain rating system.) He's noshed all over America, but pays special tribute to his home chompin' grounds. Favorite Eats: Steve's Prince of Steaks, Sarcone's Deli.

3 PhilaFoodie

Lawyer David Snyder knows his stuff—the guy's an undisputed gourmet with a knack for in-depth plate analyses and clever wine deconstructions. Upcoming posts will focus on top-notch spots like Waterworks and Striped Bass. Favorite Eats: Vintage, Radicchio Cafe.

4 Messy and Picky

Last August, freelance photog Albert "Dragonballyee" Yee founded this blog with his main squeeze, Temple grad student Kate Donnelly. (He's the picky one; she's messy.) The duo, who never claim to be experts, post honest takes on their local dining experiences. Favorite Eats: Taqueria La Veracruzana, Nodding Head.

5 Minor Gourmandry

Andy Meehan's beautifully written site has earned him lots of local attention. In addition to reviews, he tosses up everything from recipes to full-color photo galleries. Minor G isn't updated as often anymore, but Meehan's got a decent excuse—he's busy studying nutritional sciences at Cornell. Favorite Eats: Marigold Kitchen, Lacroix.
