Feeding FrenzyCandy mogul Jeff Rubin opened this "super sweet, ultra chic land of candy" on June 29. The store features more than 5,000 varieties, all of which will make your kids flip the eff out and run into the ocean. The two-level affair also features the IT'SCREAM Café, which serves candy-based drinks and more than 300 varieties of ice cream. Rumor has it they're looking at constructing a third level, tentatively called IT'STYPE2DIABETES. Bite This: The store carries candy bikinis, which totally withstand salt water. Seriously, try it!
Open since January, this upscale after-hours club recently debuted a brand-new wing. Intentionally misspelled for that "cool" effect, Uforia is standing-room only and open Fridays and Saturdays from midnight on. The room has its own DJ specializing inyou guessed ithouse music. Can I get a golf clap? Bite This: The marinated lamb satay is served on a bamboo skewer with mint yogurt sauce.
The Water Works Restaurant, just a few paces from the Art Museum, is getting primed for its grand opening. The Engine House complex will be the focal point, while the separate Caretaker's House and Breezeway will feature a bar and casual dining. Adam Trinidad, who trained under Jose Garces at El Vez, was recently hired as head chef. Bite This: Super-classy entrees will include grilled tuna with kalamata vinaigrette and a filet with roasted shallot demi-glace.
Healthy living enthusiasts should remember NoLibs' Kind Café, which owner KC McQuillan closed last August due to irreparable structural problems. Luckily, she's found a new spot a storefront that currently houses Narberth Natural Foods. Owner Gloria Stein is looking to retire, and McQuillan, who is attempting to get on Food Network's Restaurant Makeover, is aiming for an early September opening.
