Last ChanceCatch It or Regret It
Runs through June 17, Gallery Siano, 309 Arch St., 215-629-2940
The world is a chaotic place and organizing the mess into squares, rectangles, circles and other shapes might help take the "dis" out of disorder. At least it has for these 16 American artists (and one lonely Canadian). Large abstract paintings are reminiscent of the ordered aspects of society found in architecture, blueprints and musical compositions. While the shapes of some of the paintings are both tightly and loosely arranged, the bright colors add a playful element to the hard and precise forms.
Runs through June 17, Fabric Workshop and Museum, 1315 Cherry St., fifth floor, 215-568-1111
Prepare to be mellowed out by this ornate collection of Hindu- and Muslim-influenced gouache prints. Each hand-painted work has a touch of subtle elegance and artistic harmony, blending warm colors of gold, orange and red. If you look closely, you'll see that there are even tiny soccer balls in Sikander's piece The Illustrated Page Series #1. The video installation Dissonance to Detour is equally hypnotic, with twirling shapes and nature-inspired imagery.

Runs through June 17, Mum Puppettheatre, 115 Arch St., 215-925-7686
Follow the Yellow Brick Roadpuppet-style. L. Frank Baum's classic story is given a dose of vitality onstage through the use of special effects, mooselike flying monkeys (which are way too cute to be evil) and imaginative set design. Though unconventional, the production doesn't stray far from the original-- even the puppets were crafted from Baum's sketches. It will put your sock monkeys to shame.
