You've seen 'em in movies and read about 'em in history books, but what do you really know about Native Americans?
If the closest you've gotten is a Redskins game or a casino in Connecticut, get thee to South Jersey's three-day American Indian Arts Festival.
Silversmiths, weavers, beaders and painters from across the country will showcase their work, including handcrafted turquoise jewelry, handwoven rugs, clay, precious metals, sand, carved wood and oil paint. All artists must be enrolled tribal members to participate.
When you're done shopping, indulge in some authentic Native American cuisine (caribou, venison, alligator, etc.) and enjoy American Indian music, oral histories, the Aztec Dancers of Mexico, the Red Blanket Singers and a live Birds of Prey demonstration with wildlife expert Ray Pena.
