The Agenda : Agenda Picks

Just Do It

Life in the Gray Bar Hotel

Sat., May 20, 1-4:30 p.m., free, Friends Center at The Meeting House, 1501 Cherry St., 215-496-9661

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, right? Fair enough. But for some prisoners the punishment doesn't stop at incarceration.

There's abuse and solitary confinement practices find the jailed spending inordinate, inhuman stretches of time away from the general population, their families, even daylight.

The Human Rights Coalition wants you to know about this happening in Pennsylvania. Along with a film featuring interviews with former detainees and their families, there is a series of Buried Alive reports and pamphlets ready for the taking and a panel discussion about the illegalities of solitary confinement. Masai Ehehosi from the American Friends Service Committee Prison Watch and activist/lawyer Angus Love will be among the featured panelists.
