The Agenda : Agenda Picks

Just Do It

Get Your Hispanic Groove On

Sat., May 20, interactive family workshops,1 p.m., free; concerts, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., $26-$30; meet-the-artists reception, 9:30 p.m., $25, Philadelphia Arts Bank, Broad and South sts., 215-482-2191, www.latinfiestainc.net

Tango, salsa, bolero, danzon, milonga, flamenco, fiesta nocturna—they're all ways to get your groove on, Hispanic-style. These musical modes are distinct, running from classical, to jazzy, to sensitive and sensual, but still have a heck of a lot of heart and soul. Hear for yourself at Hispanos' Many Roots, Many Faces: The First Annual Hispanic Music Festival. Performers include two Grammy winners—flutist Dave Valentin and pianist Oscar Hernandez—the feverish percussion ensemble Alo Brasil, the violin/piano duo of Raymond Taylor and Maria de Pico Taylor, plus bandoneon masters, Latin Fiesta dancers and more. Your ears will definitely be humming at this one, and don't even try to sit still.
