Clone WarsPhiladelphians against Santorum (Pas) announced Wed-nesday that it's holding a contest to find the best imitators of "The Rooster" in Philadelphia. Four mock Santorums will not only fan out across the city to help PAS rally support, but the top imitator will star in a documentary that'll be used at campaign house parties starting in August.

"Looking like him is the lowest priority; I wouldn't want to wish that on anybody," says PAS head Ray Murphy, whose idea is entertainingly original enough to deserve ink, even though he rips the author of this article in the Slant column (See page 5). "We want someone who can help people understand what Rick Santorum's really about, that he doesn't have the best interest of the people of the city [in his heart], but that he's all about furthering the interests of his conservative agenda, his conservative base."
Murphy says PAS wants to get at least 60 percent of Philadelphia votersor some 100,000 more than normalout to oppose Santorum on Election Day. (They're worried that traditionally low turnout in non-presidential election years could hurt their cause.) In addition to starring in the DVDMurphy says it'll offer what he considers the lowlights of the senator's career, like slashed funding for city schoolsthe mock Santorum winner will appear at protests, rallies and meetings, and will even get out for some door-to-door canvassing. Murphy says prizes will be given to the winning Santorum, who can qualify by either sending a DVD submission or auditioning live on May 31.
Information about the contest (including what the judges are looking for, how to enter before the May 31 deadline and some Santorum quotes and props that might come in handy) is available at www.phillyagainstsantorum.com.
