Full Frontal Folk and The Kennedys
|
Without getting all sentimental about it, let's just say this will be a show worth catching: It's the farewell (for now) appearance by Philly's fabulous Full Frontal Folk. The gals are taking a hiatus (and eyeing summer, 2007, for a possible regrouping). With two Full Front-liners busy being new momssinger/violinist Wendy Fuhr (who is also a family medicine doc) and vocalist Courtney Malleyand guitarist/vocalist Jennifer Schonwald singing with the Angel Band, the time was right for a break, Fuhr says. But, the girls won't be hiding out: Fuhr plans to do session work and backing vocals; Malley's still performing with her other band, Somethingblack, and percussionist Cheryl Prashker is busy teaching and recording. "I'm sure spontaneous performances will pop up, too," Fuhr says, "whether at a music jam session or as a surprise appearance at a friend's concert." In the meantime, catch 'em while you can. Sharing the bill is top-notch alt-folk-rock husband-wife duo Pete and Maura Kennedy. The twowho met at a Nashville gig more than a decade ago and each drove 500 miles for a first date at Buddy Holly's graveare touring to plug their soulful new CD, Half a Million Miles.
