When is a club not a lounge and not a restaurant with a Buddha Bar-mixing DJ? When it's a way late-night hangout with a dancefloor as its main focus. Pulse, Tito Anouti and friends' speakeasy-ish stop atop a sushi restaurant, is both splashy (hydraulic mushroom-cap barstools, LED tone-shifting bars) and subdued (brick walls, a silver-flecked private mezzanine). The tiny parquet dancefloor throbs below your feet while the cathedral ceilings carry the sound so high you can actually hear someone ask you to fuck. Tonight marks the club's grand opening, but look for parties from Fabric and Brendan in coming weeks.
