Hatchet Job
It's high time I explained the icon that appears with this column. (No, it's not my friendly way of saying, "Hey, I'm an axe murderer!") The hatchet-and-cherries is a reference to that old fable about George Washingtonwith whom I share a birthday, incidentallyand how he owned up to the brutal slaying of one of his father's beloved cherry trees.
