Accidental Tourist

Justin Williams

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Philadelphia Flyers, Wed., March 8, 7 p.m., $10-$170, Wachovia Center, 3601 S. Broad St., 215-218-7825, www.philadelphiaflyers.com.

Don't blame it on the Hurricanes. It was Flyers general manager Bob Clarke who traded a young orange-and-black-blooded Justin Williams to Carolina back in 2004. Now number 11 is scoring up a storm down south, with the 'Canes currently topping the Eastern Conference in points. The NHL right winger still likes Philly, though—we decided to break the ice about why. Here's Williams on …

… why Philly will always be special: That's where my career started. That's where I played my first NHL game. It's always nice going back.

… the Wachovia Center and its fans: They're some of the most emotional fans in the league. It's always exciting when you go to play the Flyers. I love the fans there.

… old Flyers buddies: There are a few guys on the team that I try to keep in touch with. Sometimes we'll have dinner the night before the game, or I'll see them after. You definitely try to keep in touch with the guys you established close ties with.

… his favorite Philly landmarks: The Rocky steps as far as landmarks. Boathouse Row. Rittenhouse Square. They're all nice landmarks.
