On The DL…

The Exonerated

Fri.-Sat., March 3-4, 8 p.m., $8-$15, St. Augustine Church, 243 N. Lawrence St., 215-569-9700

So you think the church is only for Bush voters and do-gooders? Well, Doubting Thomas, it just so happens Philly's St. Augustine is spending its weekend railing against the death penalty. The Exonerated tells the true stories of six wrongfully convicted death row survivors and examines the shortcomings of capital punishment. A post-play discussion even lets the audience voice its opinions. With DNA testing and so many false identifications, St. Augustine's Father John Deegan wonders, "Is the death penalty something we need to do, as a civilized society, or just something we want to do?"
