If your only experience with face painting was getting all Spidermanned-out at Six Flags in the second grade, the Body Art Ball is your epidermal Mecca. Produced by Dallas-based identical twins Chris and Candy Smith, the extreme body-paint tour has earned the duo a reputation as bona fide Bible Belt renegades.
Check it: Twenty artists are handed live human canvases to get all urban Picasso on. The challenge is to prepare a visual marvel within a two-hour time limit. The painted performers then flamenco dance, play jazz, sing or do whatever else entertains without working up a sweat. (Shit runs, you know.)
Attendees are encouraged to pull an early bird if they want to watch the artists wield their brushes and sponges beforehand. Thankfully, the models are physically and culturally diverse, and there are only three boob jobs in the whole production. Primitive drum corps band Spoonfed Tribe kicks off the procession, which ends triumphantly with the models' skin-titillating sashay down the catwalk. A panel of judges will announce the winners after the show, before turning the limelight over to DJ Amaze. Think all this flesh and body paint makes for a hands-off exhibit? Stick around for the after-party to get a closer look at your favorite works of art.
