What to Do if You're…A New Year's Eve Geek

Nothing says "Happy New Year!" like donning your favorite reindeer sweater and watching the sky light up with mom, pop and a mug of hot cocoa. So sue you for being G-rated uncool. This is the last hoorah in the holiday season, and gosh darn it, you're gonna party like it's virgin daiquiri night at T.G.I. Friday's.

Philadelphia Orchestra New Year's Eve concert

8 p.m., $117-$132, Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St., 215-893-1999

Warm the cockles of your heart with all-American classics from stage and film, including Gershwin's An American in Paris. Gentle and patriotic.

New Year's Eve Party on Ice

11 p.m.-1 a.m., $15-$25, Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing, Columbus Blvd. at Market St., 215-925-RINK

Keep the circulation flowing while loading up on "finger hoagies" and Christmas tunes inside the rink's heated facility. All you gotta do is look up for the fireworks at midnight. Leotards recommended.

Battleship New Jersey Overnight Encampment

6 p.m.-6:30 a.m., $59.50, reservations required, Battleship New Jersey, 62 Battleship Place, Camden Waterfront, Camden, N.J., 856-966-1652, ext. 203

For a rugged Eve, crash aboard the Battleship, eat grub in the mess and sleep on sailors' bunks (aka "coffin racks"). The night culminates with a sparkling cider toast, then straight to bed: A bugle wakes everybody up at 6:30 the next morning.

New Year's Kids' Kazoo Parade

4 p.m., free, The Pop Shop, 729 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, N.J., 856-869-0111

Why wait until 2006 for a parade? All you need to march down this New Jersey thoroughfare is a kooky party hat and costume. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served after the dusk countdown.

New Year's Eve at Longwood Gardens

9 a.m.-10 p.m., Longwood Gardens, Route 1, Kennett Square, 610-388-1000

Longwood Gardens is open late so you can sing carols and catch organist Rudolph Lucente's "New Year's in Old Vienna" waltz. Guzzle a la carte hot chocolates throughout the gardens or, for an extra $25.95, enjoy a special buffet at the Terrace Restaurant. Fireworks go off at 9.

Please Touch Museum's Countdown to Noon!

Noon and 1 p.m., $9.95 for ages 1 and older, 210 N. 21st St., 215-963-0667

You get a mini parade, Mummers string band, confetti showers and a lit-up ball that drops 12 hours early. The Please Touch people warn that this celebration will be "just as crowded as Times Square."
