Blogs Have More Funfestival
The Windsor for the Derby show is just one of several under the umbrella of Philebrity Weekender, the three-day music festival put on by the gossip blog/hipster cheat sheet (which is run by CP's TV columnist, Joey Sweeney). For one thing, there's also the Plastic Little/Yah Mos Def/A-Sides show at the Khyber on Thursday. (The first two are part of Philly's lo-fi snarky hip-hop revolution and the last is a kick-ass rock band whose debut seems to be growing on everybody all at once.) All day Saturday the Weekender links arms with the much-loved Northern Liberties Arts and Music Festival in Liberty Lands Park (Third and Poplar sts.). On the bill you will find NoLibs movers and shakers Mike Simons, Dahlgren, Bebek, Mad Action and more. The show is free; the food and beer are not. Usually this is a fundraiser for the park itself, but this year the profits will be shared with Katrina victims, so drink up. The Weekender continues that night at the Manhattan Room with a Philebrity Talent Show. There will also be music/art/film events at AKA Records all Weekender long. The whole thing draws to a close at Sunday's secret-ish wrap party, sure to lead to gushy MySpace messages and/or herpes. --Patrick Rapa
