They're calling it The Best Fest, and that's a pretty bold choice. Philly is pretty much infested with fests this summer. But yeah, this one's pretty sweet. With a stage set up in Clark Park's hilly little Dog Bowl, this Particularly Good Fest boasts a full day of eating pizza (not free), sitting on the grass (free) and listening to rock 'n' roll (also free). Among the dozen performers on the bill are West Philly's jazzy Sabbath trio Stinking Lizaveta, South Jersey psycho-worshippers The World Famous Crawlspace Brothers and Virginia's country jesters Hi Ho, Six Shooter! Also make sure to stick around for D.C.'s Nethers (they go on at 6:55 p.m.) their three-song demo is a charming, promising bit of folk-pop. Hmmm. Maybe this is The Best Fest.
The Best Fest, Sat., June 18, 2-8 p.m., free, Chester Ave. between 42nd and 43rd sts., www.myspace.com/bestfest.
