Ultimate Summer Fun: 140 rocking, sporty, sexy, artsy and straight-up insane activities for each and every damn day of the Philly summer.
Sum Fun We're Having
We've got you covered this summer. Start to finish. It's taken care of. Don't waste another second worrying about how you're gonna have fun this summer. Starting, like, today, and running all the way through to Sept. 21, the official end of summer, this year's Ultimate Summer Fun Guide has at least one killer activity for each and every day of the season. Sprinkled throughout, local notables (and some sub-notables) give us the skinny on what they've got cooking for the summer.
Some of our suggestions are tied to events and some are "evergreens" stuff you could do on the days we suggest or whenever the mood strikes you. Sometimes you'll only have to go a few blocks and sometimes you're gonna have to hop in the car, hook up the iTrip and drive.
Whatever you do and however you get there, we expect you to accomplish all this stuff. No joke. After all, we went to the spreadsheet-busting trouble of compiling it. It's only fair.
An issue of this magnitude comes with a serpentine list of thank-yous: Thanks to Manuel Dominguez Jr. for the use of his Vespa and to our nonspeaking spokesmodel Dorothy (courtesy of the You're Hot and We Know You modeling agency). Other important photo-shoot props: Bell Beverage (thank them yourself at 2809 S. Front St., 215-468-6891) provided the beer. I. Goldberg (who want you to know they can be found at 1300 Chestnut St., 215-925-9393) lent us clothes and stuff. Matthew Snyder, drummer for the Snow Fairies (now there's a tough gig), loaned us his cymbal and snare. And Retrospect (534 South St., 267-671-0116) let us borrow that suitcase on the cover. (All the other stuff we just had lying around the office.) As usual, Michael T. Regan took the photos, assisted by the aforementioned Manuel Dominguez Jr. All illustrations emanated from the unsteady head and hands of resident QuarkMonkey Jeffrey Bouchard.
