The most annoyingly perfect thing about 26-year-old Fishtown-er Amelia Breslin isn't how she made her success: re-imaging old Vogue covers and applying them to items from her clothing company, Bombshell Babydoll. Or that the company, which stocks a line of T-shirts, jeans and most recently, sleepwear, sold nationwide and at www.bombshellbabydoll.com, is done in collaboration with her little sister, Theresa, who happens to be 17. No. The most annoying thing about Breslin is how quickly she's turned her success into good for someone else, by running an all-day fashion event Sunday to raise money for Temple Cancer Center Patients' Special Fund. Breslin and The Art Institute of Philadelphia's fashion department have chosen Manayunk's Grape Street Pub as the location for an afternoon and evening of events and demonstrations. Some will cover Breslin's areas of expertise, namely runway shows highlighting Bombshell Babydoll spring/summer 2005 designs with Philly's Intrigue Models, and a hairdo show sponsored by Sabott Beauty. Others will branch out into cooking presentations, with students from area restaurant schools making their own culinary creations. Along with free massages, makeovers and manicures, and an after-party with the models (for you cheapskates who just want to hang with half-naked women), the evening promises a still-unknown klatch of local girl bands for your edification.
