At last: the winners of City Paper's 19th Annual Fiction Contest
This year, we asked for pulp-style page turners. And you certainly made the pages fly dozens and dozens of pages, in fact.
But only so much pulp can fit into a weekly newspaper. You'll find science fiction winner David J. Snyder's "Dane's Geld: A Fairy Tale" as printed here, and the other two winning stories, "The Reluctancy of Bria" by Shari Lee Goode (romance) and "Devil's in the Details" by Craig McDonald (mystery), can be found online only, complete with comments from our guest judges, Sarah Dunn and Ken Bruen.
Still hungry for more? Then grab your fedora and hit our Winners' Reading and Reception at Robin's Bookstore (108 S. 13th St.) on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. We're not guaranteeing you'll save the earth, fall in love or solve a murder, but you're sure to hear a crackin' good story.
