What is adventure? For some, it's trudging to the Flower Show to sniff hydrangea when allergic (to the plant and to Caucasians who find solace in shrubbery). To others, it's hoping the phone number you gave Gervase (the ex-Survivor who lost his cell phone in a Paris Hilton-style lunge for attention) results in at least one call intended for another D-level celeb. For me, adventure was found in a Jersey trailer park, Timberlane Campground in Clarksboro. Here, among campers (and I'm not talking kitsch) with hillbilly drawls and VHS copies of The Wedding Planner came Matthew McConaughey. And his meat. The co-producer/star of the due-in-April Sahara has been driving his own Ford truck-towed, 28-foot Airstream RV, covered in the film's graphics, to meet, y'know, regular people. Not me, mind you — my idea of camping is watching Meet Me in St. Louis on my deck while getting a manicure. Anyhoo, the bearded, bomber-jacket-wearing, way-tan McConaughey was an amiable sort. Seemed annoyed about Chris Rock's "next four presenters" crack when introducing his paramour, Penlope Cruz, and bosomy Salma Hayek as Oscar presenters. "Didn't get it at first. Wasn't funny," drawls Mac. (With that twang, he shoulda stuck around for WHYY-TV 12's casting for reality show Texas Ranch House March 10.) He seemed more into Sahara: "a Saturday morning adventure." But what he was really into were the dozen thick, Acme-bought steaks left out on his picnic table in below-freezing weather in a marinade of something he refused to identify during our chat. "It's a rub," said Mac, cryptically. "My own personal rub." … We hear local producer/actor Sal Mazzotta may have plenty to celebrate. Is his Mafioso: The Father, The Son picked up by Showtime? Is he doing a pilot for a series for the SciFi Channel called The Unknown whose first episode is based on a script called "Frankie the Squirrel" he wrote with Leo Rossi? … Who's fighting to occupy the old Border's Books Rittenhouse building bought by Midwood Properties? Ann Taylor gal clothes? Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's tony wine shop? Cosmetic queens Sephora? … "You should see the bride — she's hot," says the Rev. Elizabeth Fiend, host of DUTV's Big Tea Party, of Tammi Smith, half of the couple (with John Kirkland) Fiend'll legally marry for documentary's sake at Bar Noir, Mon., March 14. Also in for recommitment is 700 Club owner Kurt Wunder and wife Margo. … WHOWHATWHERE: After turning their Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. 1 into a mix-disc must, Diplo's Sri Lankan bud, M.I.A. , goes full-out live at Holletronix HQ, UACA, March 20. Before he left for his old-man tour with Dylan and Merle Haggard, Amos Lee played a private show in World Café Live's balcony. After selling out the Spectrum with Motley Crüe, Vince Neil hit Emerald City with his missus for a few hours. "There were a few Crüe sluts around and a lot of bad mud wrestlers," says WYSP's Jackie Bam Bam who sponsored Neil's hang. New York rocker Constantine Maroulis, currently in American Idol's Top 16, is the big brother of Philly industrial guy Athan (Spahn Ranch) Maroulis. Another local reality contestant, Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll, already has an imposter: a stalker-impersonator he actually met at a Marc Jacobs party in NYC. "It was awful," McCarroll told the New York Post's PageSix. "I was looking at this person who thinks they look like me and I'm horrified because I do, apparently, look like that."… "I jumped right in the car when Butch asked Frank (partner DeCaro of The Daily Show) and me to meet him at Woody's" says Jim Colucci, author of Will & Grace: Fabulously Uncensored, about Butch In Bed with Butch Cordora's 100th episode party at Woody's. "Turns out, that tramp gave that invite to more than 99 other people he's been "in bed' with. And we thought we were special." … By the time y'all read this, I'll have taken part in the Pen & Pencil Club's Gossip Symposium with other local scribes, some of whom I respect, and one who's wished me ill of late. I've been wished dead by smarter women — but dag, gurl. More later. … Brittany Lynn happily sang "Rich Girl" at her b-day party last week at Shampoo. Meanwhile, DJ Robert Drake starts his weeklong celebration with his Carb Lovers Party, March 13 at Tattoo Mom's, then moves to the joint b-day bash for Sean Adamz (Psy-Ops) and Psydde Delicious at Delicious' Fast, Cheap & Out of Control party at Fluid.
