Bad Idea Factory

The $EPTA Name Game

These days, everything's for sale. Even, for instance, the cover of the Metro, whose Nov. 18 issue was fronted by a full-page Temple ad beneath the banner.

And now this.

Last week we received a release from state Rep. Rosita Youngblood that suggests selling station-naming rights to remedy SEPTA's financial woes. Which got us thinking: "Would anyone really drop cash to have their company sponsor, say, the Tioga stop?"

The Bad Idea Factory's Strange-Bedfellows/Sponsor- This SEPTA Stop Wishlist:

  1. The Ol'ney Dirty Bastard Memorial Escalator (brought to you by the McDonald's of Grays Ferry)
  2. The Aqua Net Terminal at Bridge and Pratt
  3. Disney's Eighth and Market (negotiations pending)
  4. Smith & Wesson's Hunting Park
  5. Philadelphia magazine presents Suburban Station
