The women referred to in Women Who Have Walked Through Fire, the title of Random Acts of Theater's latest production, are breast cancer survivors, who, along with their friends and families, have had their lives altered by the disease. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and members of Random Acts, the Triangle Theater's resident company, will perform monologues and short plays (some adapted, some original) to convey what they call "the humor and pain of breast cancer."
The show was developed last year, driven largely by Bonnie Grant, co-producer, writer and actor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. Dennis Smeltzer directs a cast that includes Jane Stojak, founder of the Triangle.
A portion of the production's proceeds will benefit local breast cancer organizations, including the Breast Health Institute, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, City of Hope and the Wellness Community of Philadelphia.
Women Who Have Walked Through Fire, Oct. 7-31, $15-$20, Triangle Theater, 1220 N. Lawrence St., 215-763-0110.
