Incredible String Band/Espers

Rock/pop

Ah, the music writer's dilemma. Recommend Sunday's North Star show? Sure. But how? Plug the pastoral psychedelia of the Incredible String Band, (partly) reunited after decades of absence, or throw some light on local folks Espers, whose stellar fusion of medieval folk and modern noise has garnered national acclaim but barely a peep in the Philly press? True, the ISB may not be back through these parts for some time, but Espers' instantly converting live shows are not to be missed. (In fact, they open for Ghost at the Khyber tonight, Sept. 23; you should probably see that as well.) Of course, you don't have to choose: They'll let you in to see both bands as easily as one. Just bring enough cash to bring two CDs home.

Sun., Sept. 26, 7 p.m., $15, with Wrists & Pistols, North Star Bar, 27th and Poplar sts., 215-684-0808.
