More stuff going on this week...
free-for-all
Skateboarders are personae non gratae, and arts funding, well, we know where the local administration stands on that, but the City of Philadelphia has teamed up with a member of the arts community in a small gesture of solidarity. Random Acts of Theater, a hardworking, consistently creative company, presents "Let's Do Lunch at LOVE Park," "in cooperation with" the city. Every weekday from 11:30 to 1:30, working stiffs can break up their day with love poems and songs, living sculpture, commedia dell'arte, clowns and more and local restaurants will provide lunch right there in the park. Weekdays, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Love Park, 16th St. and JFK Blvd., www.triangletheater.com.
cabaret
Eddie Bruce pays tribute to British star Anthony Newley at the Prince Music Theater this week. The cabaret, "Once in a Lifetime," will feature Bruce's renditions of Newley classics like "What Kind of a Fool Am I?" and songs from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Bruce, who worked with Newley's papers at Boston University and collaborated with the star's longtime companion to create this show, is the first local performer to make an appearance as part of the Prince's Morgans Cabaret series. And you thought he was only the host of Dancin' on Air. July 28-31, 8:30 p.m., Aug. 1, 3 p.m., $25, Prince Music Theater, 1412 Chestnut St., 215-569-9700.
