Set off the week in style at The 4th Annual Philly Urban Legend Awards. Honorees include DJ Disco Rat, Crazy D, DJ Miz, Mimi Brown, Lady B and Three Times Dope. Divine Women, Divine Work, the Painted Bride's three-day festival of talented female artists of many disciplines, is simply divine. Friday, 7 p.m.: Brick City MC and former Black Lily queen Flo Brown sings future hits from her new debut CD, Whateva' Comes to Mind. Pam Hooks performs her multimedia theater piece, Optical Illusions of a Happy Black Woman, and Other Stuff You Can't See. Fri., 9 p.m.: See the future-soul of Vanishing Peoples of the Earth and the petite powerhouse with the big voice, Lady Alma. Sat., 7 p.m.: It's the fierce body poetry of Philly's own flamenco troupe, Pasión y Arte. And singer/songwriter Tania Alexandra works her piano and vocal chords. Sat., 9 p.m.: Philly poet-in-chief Ursula Rucker kicks knowledge, and Fringe Fest favorite Ashley Lecille Suttlar performs solo dance works. And if that's not enough, the daylight hours at the Bride welcome poetry, writing, music, dance and film workshops.
