As the world turns, the united front against "President" George W. Bush and his administration's war is mounting. Keep up the good fight, sign that petition, march down the street and MCs, make your voice heard every time you hit the stage -- that microphone is power. War or no war, opposition is everything right now.

That brings us to Ropeadope Records' Hold On, Slow Down: A Benefit for Peace & Understanding. With Ms. Ursula Rucker, Rich Medina, Daniel "Gravy" Thomas, Subtle Ground and the Ill Vibe Collective standing on the creative front line, Ropedope's David "Words" Wurtzel lays it out bare: "Our mantra at Ropeadope is "Stand strong.' Stand up for what you believe. A war with Iraq would be wrong in our opinion, and we're not alone. We are fortunate enough to have friends like Ursula, Rich, Kufi, Gravy and the Ill Vibe guys who feel the same way. We are just trying to do our part and, hopefully, persuade others to do the same." Thu., March 14, 9 p.m., $8 donation to the Brandywine Peace Community (includes a chance to win two Numark turntables and a Numark mixer, Ropeadope T-shirts, jackets, CDs and other goodies), North By Northwest, 7165 Germantown Ave., 215-248-1000.

Friday and Saturday require some choosing as King Britt celebrates the release of his BBE Beat Generation album, Adventures In Lo-fi, with DJ Statik, Dice Raw, Miss Saigon and Rob Life. Fri., March 14, 10 p.m., $5, The Five Spot, 5 S. Bank St., 215-574-0070. (See music feature on p. 45) And then there's a bit more hip-hop in the pot with the sixth installment of the DJ/Producer Series with Diamond D. Remember D? Folks like to use the word "legendary" to describe this "Diggin' in the Crates" producer and MC. And that's not all, scratch-o-holics, DJs Jay-Ski and Sat One bust it up for the home team. Fri., March 14, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., $20 before 11 p.m. (open bar), $10 after, Fluid, 613 S. Fourth St., 215-629-0565.

The Roots! The Roots! The Roots! The band that out-performed Eminem as his backing band at the Grammys is back in the city, with Black Thought at the helm, not Em. Sat., March 15, 8:30 p.m., $27.50-$30, with Cody ChesnuTT, Electric Factory, Seventh and Willow sts., 215-336-2000. Party the night away with ?uestlove and Mike Nyce on the decks for the Official Tasty Treats Roots Afterparty. Sat., March 15, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., $7 before midnight, $10 after, Fluid. Or shuffle on over to New Element with DJs Tangent and Rubix Qube spinning breaks, Session 31 taking on the mic and CCx flippin' that true-school hip-hop. Sat., March 15, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., $5, women free till midnight, Olive Branch, 38 S. 19th St., 215-636-0804.

Peace y'all. Peace.
