January 9-15, 2003 musicpicks Hologram
After ringing in New Year's Eve at their Mt. Vernon St. headquarters, Pacifica's Rod Sledge and Mall's Rob Cantagallo -- the team behind the mutant-electronic label TBTMO -- kick off 2003 presenting label-mates Transient and Nintari Man's crotchety computer game sounds. They'll also welcome deep-house DJ Quesako from France and the newly formed live incarnation of Fingernail (pictured) -- Doubtful label boss/composer Adam DiAngelo's ambient-noodling unit whose Aeden is an evergreen fave. "We are testing ourselves as a live band; more instruments, more everything," says DiAngelo. "We expect each show to be radically different." Sadly, this is the last scheduled TBTMO/Hologram party -- done with CP's Sean O'Neal -- on La Tazza's books. "The TBTMO house parties are cool, but the place is small and we can't bump the shit out of the sound like we do at Holog and shizzy," says Cantagallo, who is waiting for an answer from Frank Sparacino at La Tazza. Let's everyone say "yes" and get on with the shizzy or something. Hologram, Thu., Jan. 9, 10 p.m., $3, with Transient, Nintari Man, Fingernail, and DJ Quesako, La Tazza, 108 Chestnut St., 215-922-7322.
