Ho! Ho! Ho! Everybody say ho! Meander out of the downtown area. Take a drive up Germantown Avenue's rocky cobblestone path and land smack-dab in the middle of some neighborhood action as Lady Alma and her band, The Family, play it all the way live in Mt. Airy. Sat., Dec. 28, 10 p.m., $8, North by Northwest, 7165 Germantown Ave., 215-248-1000.

While it's not cut-and-dried hip-hop, A Soulful Sunday Afternoon is the place to be nevertheless. Ms. Sonia Sanchez grabs the mic alongside local musicians and wordsmiths for an intimate intertwining of prose and music. Sun., Dec. 29, 2-6 p.m., $25, $85 (group of four), The Southwest Belmont Community Association, 1605 Catharine St., 215-545-2020, b_pbs@yahoo.com.

Missed Common at the last edition of Method Monday? Well, ya missed hometown musical wunderkinds Bilal and James Poyser lending a little stage support -- but that's about all you missed if you're a Common fan of old. Yes, he put on a hot live show. Yes, his band was knockin'. But sadly, Comm's not rep'n l'eau de hip-hop like he used to.

But have no fear. Calling everyone that wants a li'l taste of that two-turntables-and-a-microphone action: The Lyricist Lounge Tour 2002 is comin' atcha. Erick Sermon, Killah Priest, Poverty, Blessanation, Grafh and DJ Adam Bomb descend on Philly with a bang. Mon., Dec. 30, 8 p.m., $18-$20, TLA, 334 South St., 215-336-2000. (Originally the tour featured another Def Squad member, Redman, as the headliner and was supposed to hit town in September. Then Reggie Noble, Wordsworth, Onyx and Mad Skillz all dropped off the bill. But hey now, take it or leave it.) And wait, it ain't over yet. Walk around the corner to the official after-party at The Remedy. Without a doubt, DJ Cosmo is holding down the decks through the wee hours of the mornin'. Most likely, Erick and the rest of the MCs will pay their Remedy respects and be in the house. Mon., Dec. 30, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., free before 11 p.m., $5, Fluid, 613 S. Fourth St., 215-629-0565, miss7dollars@aol.com.
