Padlock shock? No one, except the parents of its N.J.-native owners, was surprised that Static did not cling. The 22 S. Third spot was padlocked pre-weekend, capping what could be the shortest run (my “First Look” article was Oct. 3) in Philly club history. Employees, venue owners, (ye olde Revival) promoters -- all had one word for Static’s owners: “idiots.”… Next time your pal (or promoter) tells you he’s running for office, believe him: “I intend to make a full attempt to run for City Council,” says R5’s Sean Agnew via e-mail. He must collect 1,000 registered voter signatures to appear on the Primary Election Ballot of May 2003. Start signing.… Emerald City to open? Not the new wave club, but a new members-only spot on North Second (opening Nov. 21 with the debut of Yoshitoshi/Shinichi Recordings’ Behrouz and MV), directly behind McFadden’s and Tiki Bob’s in No-Lib, who together hold the annual tented “Glenstock” Nov. 23 with Rigbees, Collective and more.… Also open: Eulogy Bar, the Monk’s-like Belgian ale tavern at 136 Chestnut starring bartender Donal McCoy and 128 beers.… Don’t call this Kettle black, now that they’ve got new members (hello, David and Matt), a new, dreamy acoustic pop CD EP, The Leaves Project, and a full-length due soon done by Brian McTear at Miner Street Sound.… Dan Contarino kicks off his new weekly Trivia Queen buffet/game show Nov. 24 at Bump, set to star the likes of Carlota Ttendant and Thom Cardwell as MCs.… Ben Morgan, SAT 1600 and Mike Shibbo try their hands at Brit-pop-n-soul spinning at The Khyber Nov. 22 with “No Tan Lines,” the same night Ty Cobb perform a last gig before leaving for the U.K. to support Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.… New career? Dignified Restaurant School honchess Kimberly Cambra, as part of the Comedy College, performed to a packed house at the Spaghetti Warehouse’s Comedy Club.… WhoWhatWhere: Jay-Z played principal-for-a-day for Power 99 and Carver High School at 17th and Norris. Jack Johnson got a special visitor to his special Indre Studio/Y100 Sonic Session: pal G. Love. Peter Max, Kasim Sulton and Annie Haslem visited WMGK’s rock-art extravaganza at Liberty Place. Jennifer Weiner donated time and reading to/at Kenneth Cole’s A Novel Idea soiree. Billionaire Pierre Roset stopped by the opening of his eponymous Manayunk French-contempo-furnishing shop before flying to Beijing.… Check out Noel “Dr.” Zayas’ new aptly decorated Circus parties at Chrome with DJs Chris Costanzo, Tripp and John E.… Author/guitarist Richard Turgeon’s autogod.org website now features a weekly cartoon called “Limited Editions.”… Sugar Town kicks its “Plain Parade Presents”/Doc Watson’s gigs Nov. 22 with The Minks and Walkie Talkies.… Now that Donovan’s left town, Darla put out A Gift From a Garden to a Flower starring lovely locals Lenola and Photon Band.… To celebrate the release of their Blue Bell-recorded CD Everyday A Holiday, The Preacher Curls hurl through The Fire Nov. 22.… Think you missed returning-home Andy Prescott’s cabaret-comedy, At Liberty, at the Tavern on Camac? Think again. It’s extended until Nov. 24.… Silk City’s Nov. 22 Wicked Experiment features Solomonics’ Rob Paine and Zach Eberz and Philly Soul Collective.… “girL” power at Cianno’s, 1439 Snyder, when MG and Bonnie Mac spin Theater Catalyst Eternal Spiral Project’s Jessica Graham and songstress Luca Stone’s debut girl-bash Nov. 23.… So you missed last week’s DJ b-day parties for Bobby Startup (at Bar Noir), King Britt (Aqua Lounge) and Scott Melker (whose records got “lost” in that Static mix-up, only to get them replaced, in part by Tommy Up’s impromptu call to “Aid-the-DJ” at Tribecca), you can celebrate Tribecca’s second anniversary for Up’s Code Red, Nov. 23. (The club is expanding to include new VIP lounges and programs starting in December.)… Hard Liquor Theater’s third annual gobbler, “Angstgiving 3,” is Nov. 21 at Tritone with hosts Psydde Delicious and Needles Jones, with Christa D’Agostino as Liza Minnelli, 2 Street-Louise Carpino and Lenny Daniels of the Phila. Black Theater Festival joining regulars Helen Back, Tshombe Jabari, Kim Hailey, Enya Buttox, Julie Davids and The “Chair of Woe,” and Imri/Jugo’s Reflective sixth b-day bash starring Miss Summerjoy (just back from Portland), Cozmic Cat and Intergalactic Faerie Funk at 3583 Aramingo Ave.… Big Rumor: Epic Records is really and truly set to pick up Marah, but only if Mark Boyce, Jamie Mahon and his Three4Tens are part of the deal as well as part of the Marah songwriting process. Congrats to Tyrus Banks, proud winner of Fox’s Philadelphia Idol and the reason -- with 249 other kids -- I had to get up and haul my bony ass out of bed at 5:30 a.m. to be a judge several weeks running.
