Drink, drink and be merry: Tickets are on sale for the eighth annual Sippin’ by the River, set for Sept. 22, 1-5 p.m., at the Penn’s Landing Festival Pier, Delaware Ave. and Spring Garden St. Admission ($20 in advance, $25 at the gate, $150 for the VIP tent) gets you access to an array of beer, wine and food spreads; new this year is the Philadelphia Tavern Life Pavilion, featuring historic brews from Yards Brewing Company and grub from Dawson Street Pub of Manayunk. Proceeds benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.Yards Brewing will also participate in the German Society of Pennsylvania's weeklong Oktoberfest celebration, starting Oct. 5 in the "Ratskeller" of the Society's headquarters at 611 Spring Garden St. City Tavern chef-proprietor Walter Staib will oversee the authentic German dishes.
