September 5-11, 2002 beat box Watch out now, is that a cheese bus about to run you over or what?! Yes, yes y’all, school is definitely back in session. So school someone or be schooled, but keep your smart asses in bed on school nights, heads in the books. The teacher says the first day out this week will be Friday! Get Krunk Pt. II? Aww yeah! It's hip-hop and classic dance coupled with video projection madness and get this: The flyer says "No Oldheads (sike)." Ha! Wait, there's more, the first 200 party people lay claim to free Homies figures. Fri., Sept. 6, Ukrainian-American Citizen's Association, 847 N. Franklin St., 9:30 p.m.-3:30 a.m., $5 per credit, free with SEPTA pass. Remember when Big Rich Medina used to spin his heart out each and every Monday night at The Remedy? It was hip-hop to the fullest. It's been a little while since we saw him spinning those kinda beats in these parts. Welcome back. The super-DJ teams up with The Ill Vibe Collective for the Rich Medina edition of The BodyRock. Between HBO's Rosie Perez Show, production for Jill Scott, and kicking it all over the world with the likes of Zap Mama, Ms. Badu and Femi Kuti -- the man with the magic hands touches down for one night of glorious Philly turntable fire. Catch him while you can; he's wanted. Sat., Sept. 7, Aqualounge, 323 W. Girard Ave., www.illvibe.net, 10 p.m.-2 a.m. $5. Once again, Arrakis Records and the massive Prophets of the Ghetto hip-hop crew are reporting front and center at the Silk City stage. The eight-man deep P.O.G roll call goes like this: Au Purpis, Fat Nice, Meat Matta, Sammy Cook, Ken Cut, Dice, Games and Nipsy Russell -- all MCs, producers and DJs. Talk about a self-contained unit. And rocking alongside The Prophets, it’s gonna be Adam12, Kenneth Masters, Digs Darklighter, Uncle T and the soon-to-be household name, DJ Lowbudget. (Yeah, I think that’s what happens when you start spinning at super-trendy meccas like Stephen Starr’s new Jones.) Sat., Sept. 7, Silk City, Fifth and Spring Garden sts., www.arrakisrecords.com, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., $7.
