Harrison/Bey/Masekela

In a highly laudable stroke of programming, Zanzibar Blue has booked three can’t-miss attractions this week, each with his own distinctive aura. First up: Donald "Duck" Harrison (pictured), the New Orleans youngblood turned New York veteran whose alto can sear as easily as it swoons. Then a visit from Andy Bey, easily one of the two or three most soul-stirring jazz vocalists still singing. And finally, a stand by the deservedly legendary South African trumpeter-vocalist Hugh Masekela, who proved at last year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival that he was still the most melodic icon of Afro-pop. Each residence promises different pleasures; they’re all deserving of your hard-earned cash.
