High Flyer

She's the granddaughter of Matisse, the stepdaughter of Duchamp and a longtime friend of Anne D'Harnoncourt. With that pedigree, say the skeptics, no wonder Jackie Matisse got her own show at Moore's Goldie Paley Gallery—she could do paint-by-number and museums would clamor for her. But whether or not she won attention from the art world because of her venerated surname, her kitetail sculptures—kinetic artworks cut from aluminum that dance and flutter—sound plenty intriguing in their own right.
