Looks like the Sansom Street outpost of Federal Donuts is getting some company courtesy of Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook. The duo behind Fed Nuts, Zahav and Percy Street are planning on openings two new spots at 1605-27 Sansom Street in early 2014.
The first new concept is a hummusiya (pretty much exactly what it sounds like) serving hummus (obviously) along with pita and traditional pickled accompaniments. The 25 seater is going to be called Dizengoff, a reference to Tel Aviv's main drag, and is aiming for a lunchtime and early dinner crowd and plans to serve beer along with N/A offerings.
Next up is Abe Fisher (who is Abe Fisher??!?!), a spot specializing in the vast and varied food of the Jewish diaspora i.e. every single place that Jewish people have lived outside of Israel since biblical days i.e. pretty much everywhere. The menu at Abe Fisher is going to come in small plates or full tasting menus complete with a full bar and seating for 50.
Looks like the 1600 block of Sansom Street is about to get real good.
