We hadn't heard much about Townsend "Todd" Wentz's plans since he left McCrossen's, the iconic tavern he's elevated over the past few years, in the summer. But Mike Klein broke the news late last night that Wentz had signed a lease for the short-lived Sophia's on East Passyunk.
"We look forward to joining so many great chefs and restaurants on East Passyunk," Wentz told me today. "I look forward to bringing my style of modern French dining, blended with Spanish and Italian influences, to East Passyunk. We will focus on a well-curated wine list by a strong somm (in place but can't name), and will pair wines with our tasting menu."
The restaurant will be dinner-only and will open in late spring, following a bar renovation.
