Here at Meal Ticket we've got no beef with your bubbe's brisket but if it were up to us we'd rather spend Rosh Hashana with Mike Solo at Zahav (237 St. James Place). Beginning on Tuesday and running until Thursday Solo and co are rolling out a special Jewish New Year menu. The six courser ($48 a head) is filled with foods steeped in Jewish symbolism including honey to sweeten the upcoming year, fish for abundance and traditional challah and apples. Of course there is also merguez salami with smoked grapes and pickled mustard seeds which has nothing to do with Rosh Hashana but sounds totally amazing. Oh, and there's a special cocktail on the menu too, the New Year's Jerusalem a bubbly blend of Dogfish Festina Peche and sparkling wine. Here's a look at the full festive menu:
Hummus with Braised Brisket
with house-baked challah and Salatim
Taboon-roasted Sweet Squash
smoked grapes,pickled mustard seeds,celery
honeyed carrots,baharat freekah
apple and honey ice cream
