Chef Nick Farina of Verdad fame is opening the doors of his West Girard taqueria tomorrow and to celebrate he's giving away free tacos tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m. Free tacos are pretty cool, right? Here's a little more intel about Union Taco (712 W. Girard Ave.).
Farina is siting San Diego taquerias as his inspiration to UT: "I describe the feel as 'where the gringo meets the street,' where our guests can enjoy upscale Mexican cuisine made from incredibly flavorful seasonal ingredients at an affordable price."
But with menu items like flash fried mahi-mahi with soy ginger, carrot slaw and cabbage tacos and a Mexican flatbread pizza topped with confit chicken, goat cheese and sundried tomatoes, the menu is looking way more gringo than SoCal taqueria.
The menu includes a selection of tacos, tortas, flatbread pizzas and churros with plenty of fresh fruit bases ready to be mixed into bring-yer-own-tequila cocktails.
