A big round of applause for our friends at Vernick (2031 Walnut St.). Chef Greg and company have made Bon Appetit magazine's list of nominees for the 50 Best New Restaurants in America. Here's what the Bon App folks had to say about this very well-deserving newcomer:
"It seems simple enough: "Put stuff on toast." But at this downtown Philly establishment, it's an art form, whether that "stuff" is super-fresh Maryland crab and sliced jalapeño or beef tartare with fresh horseradish. Sit at the comfy bar; the hubbub doesn't detract from the beautifully plated food and entrées like a venison saddle for two."
And another nod to bar manager Vincent Stipo for his house-made cordials and sodas that make for some of the best cocktails in the city.
