Firehouse Bicycles, was established in 2001 by a group of friends who had a love and passion for bicycles. We were bike messengers, welders, artists, and tinkerers who loved and believed in bicycles. Today we're the same passionate souls. We carry quality used bicycles, new and used parts and accessories. Our professional service shop does tune-ups and repairs on all types of bicycles from vintage cruisers to lightweight road bikes.
In 2012 we purchased Wolff Cycle from the Miller Family and changed the name slightly to Wolf Cycles. The Miller Family owned and operated Wolff Cycle from 1975-2012. During that time Wolff Cycle stocked many major name brands like Pinarello, Colnago, Trek, Lotus, & Raleigh. They won a number of awards from Raleigh England for their high sales. They hosted the Wolff Cycle cycling team and were a booming, well stocked shop during the 70's and 80's.
Prior to that the shop was owned by the Wolff family and opened around 1932. Making it , possibly, the longest operating bike shop in Philadelphia. We don't have alot of information about these days of the shop but if anyone has any facts and photos, we'd love to see.
Today at Wolf Cycles the most common comment that we get is "I bought my first bike here." or, "I bought all my kids first bikes here." We're proud to be picking up the torch on this historic Philadelphia bicycle landmark. At Wolf Cycles we carry new and used bikes and parts and also have a full service shop. The three story building is full of inspiring activity. On the second floor of the building we have a newly renovated community room where we host music events, plays, movies, and meeting space. Follow our events page here to find out what kind of events are going on at Wolf Cycles. The third floor is presently a workshop for repairing and building surfboards which is another passion of some of us. Also, in the basement there's a small metal shop and an aspiring bicycle rack making venture and maybe some frame building as well.
